My Story

I was born and raised in Winter Park, Florida— a place that continues to shape how I see beauty in the everyday. After years away, I recently returned home with my daughter, Birdie, carrying with me a deeper appreciation for ritual, creativity, and the quiet elegance of daily life.

My path didn’t begin in fashion— it began in the kitchen.

I trained at The Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, where I studied culinary arts and later completed a graduate program in wine and beverage studies. My time in both culinary and wine school refined not just my palate, but my eye— teaching me to notice nuance, balance, color, and composition in everything. Food and wine are, at their core, about creating moments. About elevating the everyday.

In professional kitchens and dining rooms, I began wearing silk scarves as part of my daily uniform— tied around my head while cooking, working service, or studying late into the night. They were practical, yes— but they also became something more. A small, intentional act of beauty in otherwise demanding, high-pressure environments.

That idea stayed with me.

L. Windham Designs was born from a desire to bring that same feeling into everyday life. Each scarf begins as an original design— often inspired by the colors and textures of food, the rhythm of the seasons, and the charm of coastal living. They are printed on 100% silk twill, finished by hand, and designed to be worn in a way that feels effortless yet expressive.

For me, a scarf is not just an accessory— it’s a ritual. Something you reach for as you head out the door, tie on before cooking dinner, or drape over your shoulders at the end of a long day. It’s a way to mark a moment, to feel put together, to choose beauty— on purpose.

I have long cared deeply about eating disorder recovery and the importance of a healthy, compassionate relationship with food and self. That perspective has reinforced the value of intention, self-respect, and the ways we care for ourselves and others— both in how we nourish our bodies and how we move through the world. It continues to inform everything I create.

You don’t have to wait for a special occasion to wear something beautiful.

You can choose it every day.
